Col A Rajiv


Col A Rajiv is the 19th Principal of Sainik School Kazhakootam.  He is an alumnus of the same school who passed out of  the institution in 1990.  While in school he was an ace debator, sportsman and topper in English in the Board Examination.  He is an MA in English and MBA in Human Resources.

He joined the 85th course of National Defence Academy and passed out of Indian Military Academy in 1994. He was commissioned into 1st Naga Regiment (Infantry) and was soon involved in counter insurgency operations in Assam and Kashmir.  During Kargil war, he sustained an injury and later joined Army Educational Corps.  He has a vast experience of operational, instructional and staff duties accruing out of his 21 years of commissioned service.  So far he has served in Assam, J&K, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi.

He has served the Sainik Schools Society in form of being a Registrar at Sainik School Balachadi from Apr 2001 to Dec 2003.  He has served as a Group Testing Officer (GTO) in Services Selection Board at Allahabad from 2007 to 2010.  He has assessed about 3500 candidates during his stint as a GTO.  The Officer is the recipient of the coveted Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card for his distinguished service in 2012. 

Before taking over the present assignment as the Principal, he was the Director of RTI cell in Delhi looking after the RTI matters of Indian Army. As Director RTI and PIO, he had disposed off close to 11,000 initial applications, 1500 first appeals and 75 second appeals.
